5th MACCAFERRI Hydraulics Award Applied to Gabions

1. Purpose of the Contest:

The main objective of the competition is to stimulate the development and improvement of techniques for dimensioning, design and application of gabions and similar in hydraulic works.

2. Who can participate:

Participation is open to professionals or students from any area of ​​research or use of gabions who present works related to the topic during the XXX Latin American Congress of Hydraulics 2022.

3. Paper's Presentation:

Paper's presentation must follow the same format as the presentation of papers for the XXX Latin American Congresso of Hydraulics. The only additional requirement is that at least one of the keywords "GABION", "MATTRESS", "TERRAMESH" or "DOUBLE TWIST" is included in the paper.

4. How to participate:

• The abstract must be sent on 05/31/2022 and, after the notification of its acceptance at the XXX Latin American Congress of Hydraulics, the Author will have another 30 days to submit his Full Paper using CONFERENCE  SUBMISSION SYSTEM.

• For submission of the Full Paper, it is necessary to be registered in the Conference and with the payment of the registration fee.

• Papers must be original and unpublished, so they cannot have been presented or published in any other conference and/or publication.

• It will be the participant's full responsibility to protect the copyright involved.

• Each participant may submit only one paper about it.

• The completed registration in the Conference's system is also automatically the term of unrestricted acceptance of all contest rules.

5. Judgment:

• The Jury will be composed of qualified professionals in the area of ​​hydraulic civil engineering, who are part of the organizing committee of the Congress and also represent institutions related to Maccaferri or are Maccaferri technicians.

• No member of the jury or Maccaferri employee worldwide may participate in the contest.

• The works will be evaluated based on criteria of: technical quality, clarity of information, originality and quality of the presentation.

• During the judging process, if necessary, the Jury may, through the competition organizing committee, request additional information related to the work, as well as verify the data presented.

• The Jury is sovereign in its decisions and there will be no appeal from its judgment.

6. Awards:

• The contest will have only 01 (one) winner (main author), who will receive as a prize:01 (one) award plaque, 01 (one) Maccaferri exclusive kit and 01 (one) I-pad.

• The second and third places will receive 01 (one) award plaque.

• The organizers and Maccaferri are not responsible for the winner's expenses.

• If the winning work is authored by a group, the award will be distributed by the main author. Maccaferri is only responsible for awarding only 1 (one) of the authors of the work (with the award) and the same must be registered in the Congress.

• The winner or the group of authors of the winning work accepts the disclosure of their names, images and the awarded work in any media, including electronic.

• The prize will be delivered on the 3rd day of the Conference (see program).

7. Disclosure:

• The organizers will promote wide dissemination of the contest at all stages, from the beginning of registration to the award ceremony, through the website www.maccaferri.com/br, social network, MKT e-mail and other means suitable for them.

• The organizers reserve the right to exhibit and debate the finalist and winning cases at Universities, Seminars, Courses and Lectures or at any event, whether in Brazil or abroad.

• The publication and dissemination of all registered works is authorized to Maccaferri do Brasil Ltda, exclusively and free of charge. These rights will include the publication or dissemination of all or part of the winning work, in Brazil or abroad.

8. Additional conditions:

• By registering for the contest, the participant will unconditionally accept the rules contained in this regulation, the decisions of the Organizing Committee and the Jury, pledging to honor and respect all other participants, their work and the objectives of this regulation.

• The participant will be civilly and criminally liable for the statements and information provided in the registration documents and in the work, in relation to the intellectual property rights involved.

• Omitted CASES: ALL ISSUES NOT EXPLAINED IN THE PRESENT REGULATION WILL BE RESOLVED BY THE COMMITTEE ORGANIZING THE CONTEST.

9. Important Dates:

Deadline for submitting abstracts: May 31, 2022

Communication of abstract acceptance: 30 June 2022

Deadline for receiving full papers: July 30, 2022

Final notification of approved full papers: September 30, 2022

Winner Announcement: November 9, 2022
